    In March 2017, the GUILD Gem Laboratory (Shenzhen) obtained the China Metrology Accreditation (CMA) qualification, becoming the first international laboratory to enter the Chinese mainland. CMA has strict requirements and regulations for gemstone testing laboratories. The laboratory must strictly abide by relevant laws, regulations and rules, and can only obtain the CMA qualification after meeting the requirements in many aspects such as personnel, environment, reference materials, experimental methods, etc. and passing the strict review by professional personnel.

    In April 2016, the GUILD (Shenzhen) Gem Laboratory was established, officially opening a new chapter in the Asia-Pacific market. As the first international brand laboratory to enter China, GUILD quickly assembled an appraisal and research team mainly composed of Chinese local powerhouse gemmologists, and launched research on the standardization of colored gemstones tailored to the characteristics of China's colored gemstone market.

    From 2013 to 2015, Charles Carmona, the founder and Chief Gemmologist of the GUILD Gem Laboratory, was once again invited by the World Bank to serve as a gemmology consultant for the Gemmology Centre of Tanzania. After that, the GUILD Gem Laboratory carried out seven field investigations in Tanzania, obtaining a large amount of precious research data on the origin of colored gemstones and A-type gemstone standard samples. In 2015, Charles Carmona, the founder and Chief Gemmologist of the GUILD Gem Laboratory, was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA). Over the past 35 years, the GUILD Gem Laboratory has grown into a well-known and authoritative gemstone appraisal institution in the industry.

    From 2006 to 2007, Charles Carmona, the founder and Chief Gemmologist of the GUILD Gem Laboratory, was specially appointed as a gemmology consultant by the World Bank, and GUILD was invited to establish a gemstone testing laboratory at the Gemstone Institute of Madagascar. In the same year, the GUILD Gem Laboratory conducted several comprehensive and in-depth on-site gemmological investigations in Madagascar, known as the "Island of Gems".

    The GUILD Gem Laboratory has become the first laboratory to be stationed in Cairo, Egypt, to provide international colored gemstone consultation services. Since then, the international colored gemstone consultation services of the GUILD Gem Laboratory have been carried out in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (in 2006) and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (in 2006) respectively.
